McRae, M. S. (1999). Online student services in American higher education. contemporary issues and future implications.  Dissertation Abstracts International, (UMI No. 9934675). Examined how the 1998 top most wire colleges and universities provided students services.  These 100 schools were then examined using the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Criteria for Accreditation for student development services.  The highest percentage of services offered online were career services and financial aid and the least offered service was in the area of student behavior.

Terrell, C. D. (2001). Virginia community college counselors:  Making transitions and assuming new roles in the changing Virginia Community College System.
